WHAT TREATMENT IS THIS?
Dermaplaning is a safe, effective, and non-surgical method of physical exfoliation that enhances skin tone and texture while diminishing fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and other superficial irregularities. This treatment removes dead skin cells and fine "peach fuzz" (vellus hair), which traps dirt and oils, leaving the skin smoother with a more even tone. Contrary to popular belief, dermaplaning does not make facial hair regrow thicker, darker, or prickly.
BENEFITS
- Improves Textured Skin: Enhances the smoothness and clarity of your complexion.
- Removes Fine Facial Hair and Peach Fuzz: Clears away unwanted hair for a more refined look.
- Enhances the Effectiveness of Other Skin Treatments: Allows deeper penetration of skincare products.
- Reduces Signs of Aging: Softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
SUITABLE FOR
Dermaplaning is beneficial for individuals who want to:
- Improve skin texture and remove peach fuzz
- Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Enhance skincare product absorption
- Minimize mild acne scarring and pigmentation issues
TREATMENT PLAN
Dermaplaning removes dead skin cells, surface imperfections, and unwanted hair, so it’s best to undergo this treatment every 3-4 weeks to maintain optimal results.
RECOVERY TIME
Dermaplaning requires no downtime, and you can resume your daily activities immediately. Although your skin may feel slightly sensitive, it is a convenient "lunch-time" facial, perfect for busy schedules.

Additional modalities may be added at no extra cost, tailored to your specific skin concerns.
PRE-TREATMENT GUIDELINES
-
Discontinue Exfoliation: Stop using manual or chemical exfoliants (retinol, exfoliating serums, facial polishes, etc.) for 3-5 days before treatment to avoid over-exfoliation, which can cause acne breakouts, redness, and dry skin.
-
Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight for 5-7 days before treatment to prevent sensitization of your skin.
-
Schedule Botox or Filler: Botox or filler treatments should be scheduled after dermaplaning. Wait 3-4 days after filler treatments before undergoing dermaplaning.
-
Facial Waxing: Schedule facial waxing 1-2 weeks before your dermaplaning session. Dermaplaning does not target hair follicles, so waxing is not required unless you prefer additional hair removal.
-
Reschedule for Open Wounds: If you have open wounds or active acne lesions, reschedule your appointment. Do not attempt treatment on compromised skin.
-
Wait After Accutane: Wait 6 months after completing Accutane to undergo any exfoliating treatments to avoid sensitivity and trauma to the skin.
POST-TREATMENT AFTERCARE
-
Avoid Sun Exposure: Stay out of direct sunlight for 48-72 hours post-treatment. Your skin will be more vulnerable as the protective outer layer has been exfoliated.
-
Apply Sunscreen: Use a broad-spectrum physical sunscreen with zinc (SPF 30 or higher) daily to protect against UVA and UVB rays. Avoid supermarket sunscreens that may contain synthetic chemicals.
-
Discontinue Exfoliants: Stop using exfoliating products (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, etc.) for one week post-treatment to avoid over-exfoliation, which can cause pigmentation and irritation.
-
Use Gentle Cleanser: Cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser to avoid irritation. Your skin may feel tender, so treat it with care.
-
No Picking at Skin: Avoid touching or picking at your skin. Picking can cause damage to newly exfoliated skin and may lead to infections.
-
Avoid New Skincare Products: Do not introduce any new skincare products for 72 hours post-treatment to avoid potential reactions.
-
Keep Skin Hydrated: Dermaplaning can be drying for some skin types, so make sure to keep your skin well-hydrated.
-
Avoid Makeup: Avoid makeup for 24 hours unless absolutely necessary (use only 100% mineral-based makeup if needed). Afterward, makeup application will feel smoother as it won’t get trapped in peach fuzz.
WHAT TO AVOID
-
Direct Sun Exposure: Avoid the sun for at least 48-72 hours post-treatment.
-
Active Ingredients: Refrain from using exfoliants (retinoids, AHAs, BHAs) for 7 days post-treatment.
-
New Skincare Products: Avoid introducing new skincare products for 72 hours post-treatment.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
-
Current Inflamed Acne Lesions: Active acne can worsen with dermaplaning.
-
Skin Cancer: Not recommended for individuals with skin cancer.

Active Cold Sores: Dermaplaning can spread the virus, so avoid treatment with active cold sores.
-
Uncontrolled Diabetes: Diabetic individuals should consult with their clinician due to the skin's healing capabilities.
-
Dermatitis: Individuals with skin conditions such as dermatitis should avoid this treatment.
-
Open Skin Lesions: Dermaplaning should not be performed on open wounds or lesions.
-
Accutane Use: Avoid dermaplaning if you are currently on Accutane or have used it within the past 6 months.
-
